CHAMPION BACK TO DOMINATING IN THE TOURNAMENT

Cassidy Shaffer was clutch at the plate with ducks on the pond on Friday, driving in four on two hits to lead Champion past Garfield 11-1 on Friday. Shaffer drove in runs on a in the third and a double in the fourth.

The Flashes opened up scoring in the first inning. Lauren Fife drove in one when Fife singled.

Champion notched five runs in the fourth inning. Fife, Tayler Fuller, and Shaffer powered the big inning with RBIs.

Emma Gumont earned the victory in the pitcher’s circle for Champion. Gumont went six innings, allowing one run on four hits, striking out ten and walking one.

Elizabeth Moore took the loss for Garfield. Moore lasted five and a third innings, allowing 13 hits and 11 runs while striking out one.

Champion launched one home run on the day. Shaffer had a homer in the first inning.

Champion tallied 13 hits in the game. Brooklynn Whitt, Fuller, Fife, Shaffer, and Isabella Meyer each collected multiple hits. Meyer, Shaffer, Fife, Fuller, and Whitt all had two hits to lead.

Catarena Sommers led Garfield with three hits in three at bats.
