CHAMPION CHOPS UP A SWEEP OF THE REBELS

WARREN OH-  Gabby Gradishar was in full control Tuesday as Champion took care of Crestview 11-1 in a five-inning run-rule win at home.

The Flashes trailed briefly after a passed ball gave Crestview a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but that didn’t last long. Champion answered right back with a sac fly to even things up, then dropped the hammer in the second. Gradishar stepped up with the bases loaded and absolutely crushed a grand slam to left. That bomb was the spark in a 7-run frame that broke the game wide open.

Gradishar wasn’t done. She walked in another run later in the fourth and tossed a gem in the circle—striking out 12, walking just one, and allowing only two hits over five innings. Oh, and she threw an immaculate inning in the second. Nine pitches. Nine strikes. Three batters gone.

Champion finished with 10 hits on the day, with Gradishar and Ava Sylvester each picking up two knocks. The Flashes showed patience too, drawing six walks and staying disciplined at the dish.

Crestview’s offense came from the top of the order with their leadoff hitter going 2-for-3, but they couldn’t find any rhythm against Gradishar’s mix. Next up, Champion hits the road Thursday to take on Lakeview, while Crestview heads home to host Poland.
