CHAMPION DEFUSES THE BOMBERS
WINDHAM OH- Champion came out swinging and never looked back, rolling past Windham 8-3 on Wednesday. The Flashes got things going early, putting two runs on the board in the top of the first with back-to-back hits that set the tone. Windham managed to claw back and tie it at two in the third, taking advantage of a Champion miscue in the field.
But the fourth inning was all Champion. They exploded for six runs on six hits, flipping the script and taking full control. The dagger came on a two-run single that broke things wide open and silenced the Windham dugout.
Champion’s starter went the distance, giving up just five hits and one earned run across seven innings while punching out eight. Windham’s starter hung in for five innings but couldn’t keep Champion off the barrel, allowing 11 hits and eight runs in the loss.
The Flashes got multi-hit games from several spots in the lineup and made the most of their chances with runners on. Two players racked up a pair of RBIs each to lead the charge.
Windham had a handful of base knocks and managed to turn a double play defensively, but couldn’t string together enough offense to mount a comeback. Next up, Champion hits the road Thursday for a matchup against Brookfield.
