CHAMPION OVER POWERS INDIANS

WARREN OH- Even though Champion gave up seven runs in the sixth inning, they still defeated Girard 14-11 on Friday. The big inning for Girard came thanks to walks by Cody Wylie, Ben Barnett, Kyle Bourlier, Evan Boyle, and Anthony Cortese and a single by Cortese.

The base paths were crowded in this high-scoring game. Champion  collected ten hits and Girard had seven.

The Flashes got things started in the first inning when Adam Fisher doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs.

Jack O’Shaughnessy was the winning pitcher for Champion. The righthander lasted four innings, allowing four hits and four runs while striking out seven. Aaron Ellsworth and Tyler Skaggs entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Skaggs recorded the last three outs to earn the save.

Jake Dohy took the loss for Girard. The bulldog surrendered seven runs on seven hits over three innings, striking out one.

The Flashes racked up ten hits on the day. O’Shaughnessy, Fisher, and Collin Brainard each managed multiple hits. O’Shaughnessy went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead. Micah Nolan led Champion with three stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with 11 stolen bases.

Girard had seven hits in the game. Dohy and Andrew DelGarbino all managed multiple hits.
