CLEVER CLOVER; IRISH TAKE FIRST GAME OF HOLY WAR

STRUTHERS, OH- The Ursuline Irish beat Cardinal Mooney 4-1 on Tuesday in the first edition of “The Holy War” in 2021.

The Irish got things started in the first inning when Dante Walker grounded out, scoring one run.  Jonah Kirchner led things off on the hill for Ursuline. The right-hander surrendered one run on two hits over four innings, striking out five.

Cole Litman was on the hill for Cardinal Mooney. The hurler went three and two-thirds innings, allowing two runs on one hit and striking out one. Ethan Shaw threw three and a third innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Jack Ericson and Walker each collected one hit to lead Ursuline.

Logan Boyd led Cardinal Mooney with two hits in three at-bats.
