CLIPPERS BATTLE IN SECOND HALF TO SHAKE QUAKERS

SALEM, OH- Columbiana survived a scare from Salem on Tuesday.  The Quakers were eager for their first victory of the season against their neighbors of Route 14, but the second-half surge propelled the Clippers to a 70-57 victory.

Coach Johnson’s Clippers were able to post 40 points in the second half when they had just a 2-point lead going into the locker room.

Credit the Quakers with the ability to keep pace with one of the area’s most veteran teams, as Salem is quickly raising eyebrows as a team that is not to be looked over.  Kaleb Caldwell had another impressive outing for Salem with 16, along with Jaren Snyder contributing double digits with 13.

For Columbiana, 3 players were in double figures with Carter Pasco leading the way with 19.  Matt Mazei kept the lane on lockdown with 16 of his own while Sean Whitehead posted 10.

The Clippers will return to action Friday at United while Salem prepares for Springfield Saturday night at 7pm.
