CLIPPERS CATCH THE JET STREAM
COLUMBIANA OH- Columbiana made quick work of Leetonia on Wednesday, cruising to a 17-1 win behind a monster day from Caitlynn Pleska and a ridiculous amount of patience at the plate.
Pleska was the spark and the hammer—she doubled in the first to clear the bases and came back in the fourth with another two-run double, finishing the day with five RBIs on just two swings.
The Clippers hung a 10-spot in the first inning, and they didn’t even need a ton of hits to do it. They worked walk after walk, took what was given, and let Pleska do the damage in the middle of it all. Nearly the entire lineup got in on the fun as the basepaths stayed crowded.
Columbiana tacked on five more in the second without a single hit. More walks, a hit-by-pitch, and good base running kept the line moving. By the time the dust settled, the Clippers had drawn 21 walks as a team—yes, 21.
Peyton Stoy got the start and didn’t give Leetonia much of a chance. She gave up just one hit and no runs over three innings while striking out four. Pleska also came in for some relief work to close things down.
Addison Brode led the walk parade with three free passes, and the Clippers were aggressive once they got on—swiping five bags. Maryn Hepler and Ella Dota each had multiple steals, and the defense turned two double plays to keep things tight in the field.
Leetonia scratched out a few hits but couldn’t crack the scoreboard until late, and the 16 walks issued by their starter made it a long day in the circle. Columbiana turns the page to Thursday with a matchup against Jackson-Milton.
