COLUMBIANA OH-  Columbiana picked up its 13th win of the season in walkoff fashion Thursday afternoon over East Liverpool at Firestone Park Thursday afternoon.  The Clippers scored two runs in the bottom of the 7th to earn the 3-2 victory.

The Clippers scored first taking a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first.  Potter pitcher Mason Ludwig buckled down afterwards not allowing another run in his six innings of work striking out eight.  His counterpart Zachary Pleska was also up to the challenge as he pitched five frames striking out 10.  Pleska gave up two unearned runs in the fifth inning.  In the fifth after a walk, sacrifice bunt and single, the Potters set up shop with runners on the corners and one out.  While stealing second, two Clipper errors allowed East Liverpool to score two runs on one play and take the 2-1 lead.

Leaving a runner on third in the sixth the Clippers came to the plate in the top of the seventh with the top of the order.  Bayden Pipoly (2-2, 2 runs, 2 HBP) reached via a hit by pitch and stole second base.  Ian Less would draw a walk giving the Clippers runners on first and second with no one out.  After a pop out, Seth Spooner lined a two strike single to right scoring Pipoly and knotting the game up at 2.  Riley McElwain followed with a four pitch walk and Alex Eusebio played the role of hero hitting a hard ground ball with the bases loaded that the Potter shortstop could not handle cleanly scoring Less with the winning run!

Spooner picked up the win on the mound pitching two scoreless innings in relief of Pleska.  The win is Columbiana’s third straight.

Next up the Clippers will welcome Salem to Firestone Park on Friday weather permitting.  First pitch is scheduled for 5 PM.
