CLIPPERS FINISH OUT THEIR SWEEP OF LISBON

COLUMBIANA OH- Tori Long didn’t allow a single run against David Anderson, throwing a complete game shutout and leading the Clippers to a 11-0 victory on Thursday

Columbiana secured the victory thanks to six runs in the third inning. The offensive onslaught by the Clippers was led by Alaina Johnston, Ella Dota, Maryn Hepler, Long, and Ava Davanzo, who all drove in runs.

Columbiana got things started in the first inning. the Clippers scored on a stolen base during Caitlynn Pleska’s at bat. Then Pleska singled.

The Clippers notched six runs in the third inning. Johnston, Dota, Hepler, Long, and Davanzo all drove in runs in the frame.

One bright spot for David Anderson was a single by McKenna Dailey in the first inning.

Long earned the victory in the pitcher’s circle for the Clippers. Long lasted five innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out 11 and walking one.

The Clippers scattered 14 hits in the game. Alivia Bell, Pleska, Cameron Perkins, Davanzo, and Hepler all managed multiple hits. Bell led with three hits in three at bats. The Clippers were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Audrey Smith made the most plays with ten.

Dailey went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead David Anderson in hits.
