CLIPPERS GRAB FIRST PLACE IN THE EOAC

COLUMBIANA OH- Columbiana and United squared off on Tuesday in game one of a two game set. Both teams came in undefeated in conference play. Columbiana picked up a crucial win, 4-1.

Columbiana put up three runs in the sixth inning. The offensive onslaught came from a triple by Caitlynn Pleska, a groundout by Cameron Perkins, and a double by Ava Davanza.

Mackenzi Gamble got the win for Columbiana. The ace went seven innings, allowing one run on three hits, striking out 12 and walking zero.

Tori Firth was in the pitcher’s circle for United. She  lasted seven innings, allowing five hits and four runs while striking out eight.

The Clippers smacked one home run on the day. Gamble put one out in the fourth inning.

Gamble, Pleska, Davanza, Gabriella Spooner, and Alaina Johnston all had one hit to lead Columbiana in hits. The Clippers didn’t commit a single error in the field. Perkins had the most chances in the field with 12.
