CLIPPERS KEEP ROLLING; CHOP DOWN GIRARD

GIRARD, OH- Columbiana (11-4) scored three runs in the first inning en route to a 5-1 victory over Girard (3-6) on Saturday afternoon.

Riley McElwain picked up his 4th win of the season pitching three strong innings allowing one run on two hits striking out five.  Logan Hoschar would finish the game earning his first save of the season.  Hoschar allowed only one hit and would strike out four in four innings of work.

After allowing 13 walks the night before the Clipper pitching staff did not walk a batter on Saturday afternoon and played steady defense not committing an error.

At the plate, Columbiana was led by Bayden Pipoly who had two hits including an RBI triple in the seventh giving the Clippers a little more cushion heading into the final frame.  Zachary Pleska, Tyler Andersen, Seth Spooner, Brady Kridler, and Trevor Dearing also each had a hit on the day.

Columbiana is back in action Monday when the Wellsville Tigers come to town in an EOAC contest.  The Clippers look to extend their EOAC lead in the contest.  The first pitch is slated for 5 PM.
