CLIPPERS MOVE THROUGH LISBON
LISBON OH- Columbiana took care of business on the road Monday, rolling past Lisbon 12-4 at the Lisbon Baseball/Softball Fields.
The Clippers wasted no time jumping on the scoreboard in the first. A Lisbon miscue opened the door, then Hunter Davanzo tagged and scored on a sac fly before Dan Goehring, Blake Unger, and Zane Strohecker ripped RBI singles to put Columbiana in control early.
Avery Young got the win on the bump, going five innings and giving up just one earned run on five hits. He struck out six but had to work around six free passes. Nick Klindworth came in to shut the door in the sixth, tossing a clean frame with no hits allowed.
Columbiana’s lineup stayed hot all night, racking up 12 hits. Goehring, Max Conway, Unger, and Sam Inboden all had multi-hit games, with Goehring driving in a game-high three runs. The Clippers stayed aggressive on the bases too—Young and Davanzo each swiped a couple, and the team finished with four steals overall.
Defensively, Columbiana turned a clean double play and kept the mistakes to a minimum. Lisbon showed some fight at the plate, drawing nine walks and getting a two-hit night from Ashton Hinchliffe. Devin Kelly knocked in a run, and Logan Sturgeon reached base three times via the walk. Next up for Columbiana is a Tuesday showdown at Wellsville.
