CLIPPERS OFFENSE HEATING UP, POWER PAST LEETONIA

COLUMBIANA, OH- Columbiana (11-9, 7-4) celebrated its six seniors with pre-game festivities followed by a 12-2 five-inning victory over Leetonia.

Wayne Davis (1-0) picked up his first varsity victory as he went the distance.  Davis allowed 2 runs (1 earned) on four hits and struck out six.

After falling behind 1-0 in the top of the first the Clippers responded quickly as Chase Franken took the first pitch he saw over the batting cage beyond right field for his second homerun of the season.  The Clippers would tack on three more in the inning and never look back the rest of the way.  Hunter Zentner had two doubles on the afternoon and knocked in three runs while Seth Ross also had two hits and a double for Columbiana.  Evan Kenneally was 2-3 with two rbi’s and Ryan Fahs had two of the Clippers 11 hits.

Next up the Clippers will travel to Struthers and Cene Field as they will take on the Struthers Wildcats.  The game is scheduled on Cene 1 and first pitch will be 5 PM on YSN.
