CLIPPERS OUTLAST EAGLES IN EXTRAS

HANOVERTON, OH-  Columbiana picked up its 7th win of the season with a 12-4 victory over United in 9 innings in Hanoverton on Tuesday afternoon.  Ryan Fahs (2-0) picked up the victory in relief for the Clippers.

With the score 4-3 in the 7th United’s Leyman hit a double off the wall to tie the game up.  The Clippers were able to get out of the inning with the game tied after a pop out to end it.  Neither team would score in the 8th but the Clippers would rally for 8 runs in the 9th inning to put the game away.

Hunter Zentner led off the ninth and reached on an error.  He then moved to second on a single by Chase Franken.  Following a groundout that moved the runners to second and third Fahs was then intentionally walked to load the bases.  Erik Hopefenziz lined a 2 strike pitch down the left field line for a two-run single that gave the Clippers the lead for good.  Following an Evan Kenneally single to again load the bases, Wayne Davis and Michael Ginocchi would walk to bring home two more runs.  Zach Fahs was then hit by a pitch bringing in a 5th run in the inning.  Zentner added a sacrifice fly followed by a 2 run triple by Franken to bring the score to 12-4.

On the day the both Hopefenziz and Kenneally collected 3 hits apiece including a double for Hopfenziz. Franken also had two hits on the day.

Columbiana (7-10, 6-2 EOAC) will head to East Palestine Wednesday to take on the Bulldogs at the Next Level Baseball Facility.  Game time is scheduled for 5 PM and will be featured on YSN-Columbiana.
