CLIPPERS SAIL PAST THE BEARS

COLUMBIANA, OH- Midway through the second quarter the Leetonia Bears had upset on their minds here at Firestone Park. However, Columbiana took control scoring three times to extend a 6-0 lead to 27-0 at the half. After pushing the lead to 34-0 early in the second half, the Clippers cruised to 34-13 victory on Senior Night.

Penalties kept the Bears alive early on as the Clippers had three touchdowns called back in the first half. Leetonia could not sustain drives to take advantage of the miscues. Early season phenom, Marco Ferry, was stifled throughout being held under 100 yards for the first time.
Meanwhile, Joe Bable scored on rushes of 8 and 62 yards in the first half for the Clips. Senior signal-caller, Jakob Cross, after having two long TD passes to Chase Franken called back along with one to cousin Xathon Cross, finally had one to Xathon count as he perfectly placed one over the shoulder for a 30-yard strike. Jakob also hit paydirt with runs of 6 and 44 yards.

The Bears were able to get two late scores. Dylan Durick dove in from one yard out and Jacob McCool streaked 21 yards up the middle to round out the scoring. Leetonia(3-2) takes on Toronto next week while the Clippers(2-3) host Brookfield. As usual, you can catch Clippers
