CLIPPERS TAKE OFF IN SECOND HALF TO PRESERVE VICTORY

LEETONIA, OH- In the EOAC during basketball season, anything can happen on any given night.  Thursday night, Leetonia was pushing Columbiana to its limits.  Columbiana’s stingy defense and opportunistic offense allowed the Lady Clippers to push convincingly through the pressure en route to a 63-26 victory over the Lady Bears.

Ellie Venezia and Ava Heinrich led the Clippers in scoring with ten points apiece.  Both ladies had clutch shots throughout the contest that weighed a little heavier on their opposition than just the normal, including three three-pointers by Venezia, and five field goals by Heinrich.

Taylor Long punched in 9 points for the Clippers, Averi Marshall contributed 8 points to the victory and was supplemented by a stable of four teammates with six points a piece from AJ Johnston, Caitlyn Pleska, Addie Zohnd, and Arrante Baranda.

For Leetonia, Ella Gregorino and McKendra Cole paced the Bears with 8 points, respectively.  While Ayanna Douglas, and Alee Keyes each contributed four points.

Leetonia drops to 1-9 and 0-6 in the conference overall, while Columbiana evens their record at 6-6 overall and 4-2 in the EOAC.
