CLIPPERS WIN BACKYARD BRAWL

COLUMBIANA OH- Columbiana put up six runs in the second on its way to a 10-3 victory over Heartland Christian on Friday. Columbiana batters contributing to the big inning included Dylan Hogan, Anthony Hall, Blake Nusser, and Ian Less, all driving in runs.

The Clippers opened up scoring in the second inning, when Hogan singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run.

Alex Eusebio was the winning pitcher for Columbiana. The righthander lasted six innings, allowing three hits and three runs while striking out seven. Hall threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Will Morgan took the loss for Heartland Christian. Morgan surrendered six runs on three hits over two and a third innings, walking zero.

Columbiana saw the ball well today, racking up eight hits in the game. Maxx Grommes, Hogan, and Bayden Pipoly each managed multiple hits. Hogan and Grommes each collected three hits to lead. The Clippers stole six bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Grommes led the way with two. Columbiana was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Colin Keleman made the most plays with nine.

Jake Walker led Heartland Christian. with two hits in four at bats. Drew Gault led Heartland Christian with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with five stolen bases.
