COLUMBIANA BREEZES PAST BULLDOGS

COLUMBIANA, OH- Columbiana (12-4, 6-1 EOAC) returned home for the first time in two weeks and defeated rival East Palestine 11-1 on a dreary Wednesday afternoon.

Devin Daugherty (3-1) picked up the win for the Clippers giving up one unearned run and striking out eight in a six-inning complete game.

Offensively, Bayden Pipoly and Seth Spooner led the way with two hits apiece.  Pipoly scored two runs while Spooner added three runs scored and an RBI.  Maxx Grommes roped a two-run single to right in the sixth and Brady Kridler’s sacrifice fly walked the game off for Columbiana via the 10-run rule.

For the Bulldogs, Bender and Cannon led the offense with a hit apiece.

The Clippers return to action tomorrow as East Liverpool comes to Firestone Park.  First pitch is scheduled for 5 PM.
