COLUMBIANA SURES UP A SWEEP OF THE EAGLES
COLUMBIANA OH- Addison Brode was locked in on Thursday, mowing down United with 15 strikeouts in a complete game shutout as Columbiana rolled to a 5-0 win.
Brode was dealing from the jump—seven innings, five hits, no runs, and just one walk. Total command. United couldn’t get anything going at the plate all night.
Columbiana gave Brode breathing room early. In the bottom of the first, Caitlynn Pleska launched a two-run shot to right to get things rolling, then Alivia Bell knocked in another with a single to make it 3-0 before the Eagles knew what hit them.
Pleska and Brode were trouble in the middle of the lineup, each finishing with two hits. Bell and Pleska both drove in a pair, keeping the pressure on throughout. The Clippers also backed Brode up with clean defense—no errors, and Cameron Perkins was steady with 15 chances at first.
United had a few scattered hits but couldn’t string anything together against Brode, who had full control of the game start to finish.
Columbiana heads to South Range on Saturday looking to keep the momentum going, while United will try to bounce back against East Liverpool.
