COLUMBIANA WINS A TOURNAMENT TUNE UP

BROOKFIELD, OHIO- Even though the Brookfield Warriors collected eight hits to Clippers’s five, they still fell 4-1 on Monday.

In the first inning, Clippers got their offense started when Mackenzi Gamble doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run then the Warriors evened things up at one in the bottom of the first inning when Cadence  Huffman singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.

The Clippers pulled away for good with two runs in the fourth inning as Gamble homered on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs. Gamble was also the winning pitcher as she got seven innings of work in, allowing eight hits and one run while striking out nine and walking zero.

The Warriors racked up eight hits in the game as Sophia  Hook and Jasmine Hubbard each managed multiple hits as Hook went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead the Warriors in hits.

Miranda Nicholson took the loss for the Warriors as the hurler surrendered four runs on five hits over seven innings, striking out five and walking zero.

Brookfield will finish the season up when they take on Garfield on Tuesday as Columbiana will finish the season off on Friday against Canfield.
