COPE HAS BIG DAY AT THE PLATE; EAGLES SWEEP EP

HANOVERTON, OH- With pitching carrying the United Lady Eagles in the first leg of the doubleheader, the offense picked up the tab on the way out the door.  Namely, Taylor Cope and her 4 RBI performance in the second contest en route to a 12-2 victory over East Palestine on Saturday afternoon.

United fired up the offense in the first inning. Colby Burton drove in one when she doubled.  United scored four runs in the third inning. United’s big inning was driven by singles by Mady Lucas, Taylor Cope, and Sam Lippiatt.

Tori Firth was in the pitcher’s circle for United. The Eagle Ace allowed two hits and two runs over five innings, striking out seven.  Prior to the hit in the fourth inning, Firth and the Eagles hadn’t allowed a hit in 14 innings of work.

Gabby Andre toed the rubber for Bulldogs. The righty surrendered seven runs on ten hits over three innings, striking out three and walking zero. Ceci Foster threw one and one-third innings out of the bullpen.

Taylor Foster and Alexus Robb each collected one hit to lead the Bulldogs.  Ceci Foster also had an RBI on the day.

United saw the ball well today, racking up 17 hits in the game. Cope was 2-3 in game two with four runs batted in.  Tori Firth went deep over the centerfield fence for a solo shot.  BurtonLucasCopeIreyZines, and Firth each had multiple hits for United. Burton led United with four hits in four at-bats. United tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Cope led the way with three.
