CRESTVIEW COMPLETES COMEBACK ON SENIOR NIGHT

COLUMBIANA, OH- On this chilly senior night for the Rebels, they wanted to start off the season with a bang against the Wellsville Tigers that originally was not on schedule. After having the lead for the majority of the game, Wellsville seemed like they would run away with a victory. The Tigers had as much as a 12 point lead in the second quarter. However, the Rebels would not give in, as they went on an 8-0 run in the 4th quarter and took the lead. Wellsville was unable to keep up with the late offensive pressure from Crestview. The Rebels pulled out a difficult game with a score of 56-52.

For the first three quarters of the game, Crestview found it difficult to get any offensive pressure onto the Tigers’ defense. Wellsville, however, tended to score on every other drive, led by Isaiah Greathouse. Greathouse, in the 3rd quarter, scored back-to-back-to-back 3s. Unfortunately, the gas was let off from him after that streak. The Rebels kept hanging in there, and their defense really came to play in the 4th quarter. The Rebels were able to hold the Tigers to their 48 points on the board for the majority of the game. The key turning point of the game was when a Jack Yerkey 3 drained through the net. When Greathouse tried to take it down the court, he had his pass stolen from him by Brandon Yanssens which ended up in the hands of Yerkey again to set up the clutch lay-up to tie the game. The Rebels played phenomenal defense after that moment with 3 minutes left in the game, and ran away with the lead.

Wellsville will play CVHS next Saturday while Crestview will play David Anderson this Saturday.
