CRESTVIEW GETS SHOCKED AT HOME
COLUMBIANA OH- Crestview’s playoff opener turned into a high-scoring battle Friday night, but the Rebels fell short as 11th-seeded Martin’s Ferry pulled off the upset, 48-41. The Purple Riders came in with a mission and used a huge third quarter to create enough cushion to outlast Crestview.
Crestview’s offensive highlights: Mikey Proctor carried the rock 12 times for 103 yards and found the end zone twice. Jake Noling churned out 57 yards on 17 runs, adding 2 touchdowns of his own. Wyatt Hart broke free for 87 yards on 8 carries and crossed the goal line once. The Rebels racked up 247 rushing yards as part of their 375 total yards on offense.
Tied 20-20 at halftime, the game swung in Martin’s Ferry’s favor with a 20-point explosion in the third quarter. Crestview battled back, winning the fourth quarter 13-6, but the gap proved too much, especially with four costly turnovers weighing them down.
Crestview wraps up the season at 8-3, while Martin’s Ferry moves on to face third-seeded Poland in Round 2 next Friday.
