CUNNINGHAM, RAIDERS TOO MUCH FOR REBELS

The Raiders Boys basketball team moved to 2-0 with a dominating 71-32 win over old ITCL rival Crestview.

The game started out looking like it was going to be back and forth all night. Each team trading buckets until the game was deadlocked at 12. Brady White and Brennan Toy both had 6 points each for the Raiders, who took an 18-14 lead out of the first frame.

The 2nd quarter is where the Raider defense really stepped up their pressure, senior Michael Cunningham went on a scoring spree with steals and great finishes in transition. He scored 12 points in the frame and the Raiders outscored the Rebels 20-3 to take a 38-17 lead into halftime

The Raiders went the whole first half without hitting a three, not that they really needed it. But in the third quarter Brady White hit a three to make it 44-20. The lead would only grow as the Raiders continued to force turnovers with high pressure defense. At the end of 3 the Raiders lead 54-28.

The fourth quarter saw the reserves for the Raiders get a chance to compete and they were prepared. Ben Irons and Nick Matos hit 3 threes combined to highlight the fourth quarter and propel the Raiders to a strong finish in a 71-32 win

The Raider offense got points from 10 different players. Michael Cunningham lead the way with 16 while Brady White also got himself into double figures with 11. Brennan Toy added 8. The Raiders return to action Saturday traveling to Struthers High School to play Malvern at 7:00pm.
