CUNNINGHAM SHINES ON HIS HOMECOMING

The Raiders boys team stayed perfect holding off a late Mooney run for a 54-46 victory.

The Raiders started off very fast on both defense and offense, holding Mooney to just 6 points in the first frame and ending it with a 17-6 lead.

The Mooney offense did settle in a bit in the second frame and it seemed like they were poised for a run but threes from Brady White and Mike Cunningham put the Raiders up 28-14 with 2:00 left in the half. The Raiders carried a 30-17 lead into the locker room.

Cunningham stayed hot in the 3rd quarter putting down a three that put the Raider lead at 37-22. A Jaxon Anderson bucket a the buzzer of the frame would give the Raiders a 44-27 lead going into the 4th. That is when things got interesting.

Mooney would outscore the Raiders 16-5 in the first 6 and half minutes of the fourth quarter cutting the Raider lead to just 49-43 with 1:30 to go. The Raiders at this point had only shot 5/12 from the free throw line and it seemed they would have to hit big free throws to win the game down the stretch. When Mooney hit a three to make it a 49-46 game. Jaxon Anderson hit two huge free throws to make it a 51-46 game with 28 seconds left the Raiders would hit 3 more free throws and allow no further Cardinal points to put the game away and walk out of Mooney with a 54-46 win.

Mike Cunningham lead the way with 19 while Jaxon Anderson contributed 13. Brady White was also in double figures with 10. The Raiders return to action Friday as they host Western Reserve.
