DAVIDSON DAWNS 2023 OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

SALEM OH – As basketball season has seen its end, there have been countless remarkable team and individual performances. The name of the game of basketball is being able to put the ball through the hoop more than the other team can. Some teams and players do it better and more often than others. During the 2023 season, the Salem Quakers averaged close to 50 points per game, a season in which they went 22-3. A huge part in the Quakers success as a team, particularly on the offensive end of the floor, was the play of senior point guard Abbie Davidson.

Point guards are viewed as the quarterback of basketball, the floor general, the one who gets their teammates involved and the player who has the most opportunities to score the ball. Davidson did just that as she averaged 15 points per game, 3 assists, and led the Quakers with a 45% field goal percentage and shot 75% from the free throw line. Her leadership on the floor was also a factor in winning this honor.  Salem was just plain different with Abbie on the floor.  In the few close games Salem had to play this season, Abbie has come up huge on the stat book.  Even in their final game against Canfield, Abbie did all she could scoring 16 points in the Quakers loss.

Everyone at YSN would like to congratulate Abbie on an outstanding season leading the Salem offense to the year it had. It is with our pleasure to announce that Abbie is our recipient of the 2023 YSN Offensive Player of the Year.
