DETRICK DOES THE TRICK AS THE WARRIORS WIN IN THE OPENING ROUND

East Palestine, OH- The Edgewood Warriors defeated Howland Tigers 9-2 on Monday in the first round of the OHSAA playoffs thanks to seven runs in the third inning.  Edgewoods big bats were led by Zack Vencill, Alex Sperduto, Ethan Detrick, Aidan Hernandez, Caleb Johnson, and Drew Hlavtur, who all drove in runs. Detrick was the winning pitcher for the Warriors. The pitcher allowed seven hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out five. Braden Adams took the loss for Howland Tigers. The Tiger lasted two and a third innings, allowing two hits and four runs.

Edgewood tallied one home run on the day. Detrick put one out in the sixth inning. Sperduto went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Edgewood in hits. Howland did not commit a single error in the field. Nick Leasure had five chances in the field, the most on the team. The Warriors will face off against the 8 seed Poland Bulldogs at Poland on Wednesday.
