DEVILS SHINE ON SENIOR NIGHT

BERLIN CENTER OH- It was senior night in Western Reserve, and the Devils honored 4 seniors. The Devils had a great game plan and executed it to a tee to earn a sweep of a tough Heartland Christian team (25-15 25-16 25-22).

The first set started as everyone expected this match to go, it was a back and forth competitive set. Until Reserve led 11-8, no team had a lead bigger than 2. But at that point the Devils took off and quickly grasped control over the set. Heartland was struggling to get into system and couldn’t be as aggressive as they wanted to be. Those struggles for Heartland continued into set two as Reserve dominated both of the first two sets.

The Lions really showed some fight to come out in the third set and grab a lead. Makayla Osborn served well for the Lions, at one point serving up 3 aces in a row to tie the set up at 6-6. However late in the set Reserve dug out a lot of strong attacks and simply outlasted the Lions in long rally’s. The Devils completed the sweep with a 25-22 victory in set three.

Dani Vuletich led the Devil’s attack with 10 kills. She also played great defense at the net with 4 blocks. Lisa Eichert had a strong night as well with 9 kills. Alyvia Hughes finished with 7. Gianna Paris gathered 16 assists on the night. Reserve did a good job having other players ready to set when Paris was taken out of the play.

Western Reserve will play their third game in three days on Thursday when they travel to Lowellville. Heartland will need to bounce back quick as they travel to Columbiana on Thursday.
