DRAGONS GET THE UPSET ON THE ROAD

HUBBARD OH- Niles was considered the underdog on Tuesday night as they traveled to Hubbard for a sectional tournament game.  They were comfortable against their familiar foe though, and came away with a 5-2 upset win.

Matt Kozak was the winning pitcher for Niles. The ace allowed three hits and two runs over six innings, striking out eight. Anthony Fisher threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Ian Wukelich took the loss for Hubbard. The pitcher went six innings, allowing four runs on six hits and striking out four.

Wukelich went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Hubbard  in hits.

Niles tallied eight hits in the game. Fisher and Andrew Huffman all managed multiple hits. Fisher led with three hits in four at bats. Niles was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Jordan Streamo made the most plays with nine.

Niles earns a home game in the sectional final as they’ll host Geneva who got the upset in their sectional semifinal as well. That game is scheduled for Wednesday at 5:00.
