EAGLES AVENGE EARLY SEASON LOSS TO POLAND
POLAND OH- Braydon Songer was dialed in on the bump Thursday, mowing down 12 and going the distance to carry Hubbard past Poland 4-2 in a tight one.
The southpaw scattered six hits over seven innings, walked just one, and held it down when it mattered most. Poland struck in the third with a sac fly and an RBI single, but that was all they’d get. After that, Songer took the wheel and never let go.
Hubbard answered fast in the fourth. AJ Cheney got the scoring started with a sharp RBI single, and Songer helped his own cause by lacing a two-run double to flip the game in the Eagles’ favor.
Hubbard’s offense stayed steady, racking up nine hits. Songer and Logan Balla each picked up a pair, with Songer knocking in two from the leadoff spot. The Eagles also kept pressure on with their legs, swiping four bags on the day.
Poland got solid efforts from Jacob Hayes, who went 2-for-4, and Joe Zuccaro, who chipped in with a hit and an RBI. Tyson Tarajack tossed five-plus innings on the mound but took the loss after giving up four runs, three of them earned.
Hubbard’s got a quick turnaround—they’ll host Maplewood on Friday, while Poland remains at home to host Boardman.
