EAGLES DON’T MESS AROUND WITH SOUTHERN IN TOWN

HANOVERTON OH-  United didn’t waste any time putting Thursday’s game out of reach, steamrolling Southern 13-0 in a five-inning shutout that was all Eagles from start to finish.

They came out swinging in the first, stringing together a couple of RBI singles and drawing back-to-back walks to plate four early. The second inning saw more of the same—aggressive at-bats and smart baserunning turned a passed ball and another RBI knock into a 6-0 lead.

Things really unraveled for Southern in the third when United took advantage of walks and a costly error to tack on more. By the time it was over, the Eagles had piled up 10 runs through three and never looked back.

On the mound, United’s starter was lights out—five innings, just one hit, nine strikeouts, and no runs allowed. He kept Southern guessing all day with solid command and a sharp mix.

The Eagles finished with 10 walks and eight stolen bases, putting constant pressure on the base paths. Three players had multi-hit games, and one guy in the heart of the order led the charge with a 2-for-3 day and a pair of RBIs.

Defensively, United was just as sharp, turning two double plays to help keep the Southern bats quiet. The lone bright spot for Southern came in the form of a single from one of their hitters and a clean double play in the field, but that was about it. United moves on to face Wellsville next, riding the momentum of a statement win.
