EAGLES SEND LAKEVIEW TO THE DOGHOUSE

HUBBARD, Ohio

Fresh off their win over Springfield, the Hubbard Lady Eagles (9-8) played host to the Lakeview Bulldogs (7-9) for a NE8 conference matchup.

Giving up only 1 hit in her last start, Hubbard pitcher Isabella O’Brien looked to continue her success on the mound. The freshman phenom would do exactly that in this matchup, allowing one hit in the first inning and never looking back. O’Brien stuck out 14 in just 5 innings of work, bringing her total to 104 strikeouts on the season.

While the Eagles’ pitcher was fanning batters left and right, the Hubbard offense was pouring it on the Lakeview Bulldogs. The Lady Eagles would bat around the order in their very first inning at the dish, plating 5 runs in the process. Hitting a whopping 7 singles in their bottom half of the 1st,the Eagles effectively moved station to station bringing in 1 run and a time, led by RBI singlesfrom Gillian Ryser, Sydney Bowser, as well as Phoebe Rusnak.

Continuing their hot start, the Eagles batted around again in their second inning of work. Veering away from their base hits in the first, the Eagles started the bottom half of the second with a double off the bat of Grace Narkum followed by an RBI triple by Haley Croyle. After a pleather of singles from the Hubbard lineup, Croyle would hit an RBI double later in the inning to bring across 2.

Already ahead 13-0, the Lady Eagles would score an additional 4 runs in the third thanks to singles from Lexi Najdusak, Grace Narkum, and Gillian Ryser. Totaling 22 hits for the ball game the Eagles picked up their second straight victory, 17-0.
