EAGLES UNSTOPPABLE FOR SHAW

HUBBARD, Ohio –
One week removed from securing their first win in school history against Cardinal Mooney, the Hubbard Eagles (3-0) played host to East Cleveland Shaw (0-2) in hopes of keeping their perfect record against the Cardinals intact.
TC Caffey continued his strong start to the season, scoring from fifty-six yards out just fifty-one seconds into the ballgame. After a quick three and out from the Shaw offense and a poor punt, Hubbard took over with the ball in plus territory. Just two plays later, Caffey had his second touchdown of the game in just under four minutes of play.
Both teams would swap scoreless drives before Hubbard would take over at their own twenty-yard line with just under two minutes to go in the 1st. Seven plays later and a healthy dosage of the Eagle run game, Caffey scampered into the endzone from twenty-six yards out for his third score of the night.
Hubbard would continue to dominate on both sides of the ball for the rest of the half. Caffey would score once more and junior quarterback, Nik Hendrix, tossed his first two scores of the season. Before it was all said and done, the Eagles would head into the locker room up 41-0.
With their comfortable lead, the Hubbard coaching staff opted to rest their starters for the rest of the night, and let some younger guys earn some valuable experience. Unfortunately for the blue and white defensive unit, they were unable to secure their first shutout since week three of last season but still picked up the victory, 47-14.

Hubbard: Going perfect through nonconference play, the Eagles will kickoff NE8 conference play against the rival Poland Bulldogs (2-1). Over the past 10 years, Poland holds a slight advantage as winners of 6 out of the 10 matchups. The Bulldogs have outscored the Eagles in those 10 matchups, 255 to 176.
East Cleveland Shaw: With their first 2 games of the year coming against a pair of YSN schools, the East Cleveland Shaw Cardinals have appeared to make their last appearance on the network this season. Looking to regroup, the Cardinals will hit the road again to take on the Maple Heights Mustangs, next Friday night.
