EARLY LEAD GOOD ENOUGH FOR RAIDERS

NILES OH-  Champion watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 3-1 loss to South Range on Monday. The Raiders win advances them to the Niles district championship.  South Range  scored first on a single by Tyson Tarajack in the second inning.

The pitching was strong on both sides. The Raiders pitchers struck out 14, while Champion sat down eight.

Aidan English was the winning pitcher for the Raiders. The pitcher allowed two hits and one run over five and a third innings, striking out 12. Tarajack threw one and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Nate Holt took the loss for Champion. The bulldog allowed five hits and three runs over six innings, striking out eight and walking one.

Carson Fife and Holt each collected one hit to lead Champion.

English led the Raiders with two hits in three at bats.

South Range will play in the district championship game on Wednesday against Columbiana. That game will be at Waddell Park in Niles. First pitch is set for 5:00.
