ELIA UNDER THE LIGHTS

STRUTHERS OH- When you talk to Struthers standout Emma Elia, one thing becomes immediately apparent, she loves the sport of basketball. That love of the game breeds a unmatched work ethic that has taken Emma to the highest levels. She recalls wanting to be a point guard in fourth grade, when her coach told her what it would take, all she did was work towards those goals. When she achieved them, it cemented a solid work schedule.

Elia is going in to her senior season at Struthers and is already one of the top players in the NE8. Any opponent of the Wildcats has to have Emma at the top of their scouting report. Jefferson learned that the hard way in Struthers season opener last week. Emma went off, and scored her career high 35 points on the Falcons. Like most things in her game, she attributed it to work in the off season, Elia says her confidence has gotten better, and her shot is starting to get higher. She knew her weaknesses coming in to the year and worked on them in the summer. That shows that Elia can self evaluate her game and make changes accordingly.

Emma isn’t taking anything for granted in her senior season. She says the knowledge that any game can be their last has made her team much closer and tight knit. They have big plans to not only compete, but win the league this season.

Emma took the time to talk about her season and career with YSN’s Anthony Hartwig this week. They discuss her accomplishments, her work ethic, and much more. Don’t miss this exclusive interviews with one of the best players in the area “Elia Under The Lights.”
