EP SHINES ON SENIOR NIGHT, DOWN LIVERPOOL

NEW WATERFORD, OH- East Liverpool fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 14-5 loss to East Palestine on Tuesday. East Palestine scored on a home run by senior Brock Cheurco and a single by Cam Wischerman in the first inning.

East Palestine scored five runs in the fifth inning. Connor ElliottWischerman, Justin Hooley, Abel Figley, and Dan Bender each had RBIs in the big inning.

Hooley pitched East Palestine to victory. He went one and one-third innings, allowing two runs on four hits and striking out one. Sean Helpy and Dalton Vance entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

After East Liverpool scored one run in the top of the sixth, East Palestine answered with one of their own. The Potters scored when Kamren Klakos singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run. East Palestine then answered when Hooley was struck by a pitch, driving in a run.

Paxton Grimes took the loss for East Liverpool. He surrendered eight runs on 11 hits over two and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking zero.

East Liverpool scattered 14 hits in the game. KlakosDevin ToothmanLogan BennettCory Weyand, and Dylan Czech each managed multiple hits for the Potters. CzechWeyandBennettToothman, and Klakos each collected two hits to lead the team.

East Palestine had 19 hits in the game. CheurcoCooper VanceWischermanElliott, Dalton Vance, and Abel Figley all had multiple hits for East Palestine. Cheurco went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead East Palestine in hits. East Palestine didn’t commit a single error in the field. Connor Elliott had eight chances in the field, the most on the team.
