ESKRA CROWNED REBEL HIT QUEEN, CRESTVIEW EDGES EDGEWOOD

ASHTABULA, OH-  Crestview got the bats going early and often. Leadoff hitter Haley Eskra started the game with a bunt single, making her Crestview’s all-time career hits leader breaking the old record of 120 hits held by Jen Harroff during the 2002-2005 seasons. Eskra then stole second base, and Olivia Strank hit a line drive scoring Eskra for the first run. Kaedyn Sutton hit a line drive, and Strank scored on a throwing error.

In the top of the third Sutton led off the inning with a hit, Karsyn Moore singled with one out, and with 2 runners on Baylie Bettura smashed a double scoring both runners making the score 4-0.

Edgewood scored 2 unearned runs in the bottom of the frame. In the top of 5th, Moore led off the inning with a single, Skyler Mattern then reached base on an error putting runners on first and third, with two outs. McKenna Schultz hit a line drive into the outfield scoring Moore and Mattern, making the score 6-2, Rebels.  Ashton Moore then singled in Schultz making the score 7-2. Edgewood added 1 run in the bottom of the 5th and 2 in the bottom of the 7th.

Crestview gave up 5 runs which were all unearned. Leading the Lady Rebels were Eskra, Moore, and Sutton with 3 hits, Baylie Bettura 2 hits and 2 RBI’s, Ashton Hughes with 2 hits and 1 RBI. For Edgewood, Claire Randolph and Emily Hutch each had a hit with 2 RBI’s.

Kaedyn Sutton earned her 15th win of the season tying Crestview’s single-season wins record with 15. Crestview improves to 21-5 on the season.
