EYE OF THE TIGER; TSILIMOS CHOSEN AT WELLSVILLE
WELLSVILLE, OH – Pending board approval on Monday, March 17th at 5:30, Wellsville High School is set to make Jim Tsilimos their 36th head football coach. Tsilimos replaces Cam Douglas after posting a 2-18 record during 2 seasons at the helm. Tsilimos is no stranger to the county. Most recently, Tsilimos was the offensive coordinator under Bill Meek in Lisbon. He has posted long tenures as a head coach at Lisbon High School and Carrollton High School, accumulating over 200 wins. Tsilimos brings over 50 years of coaching experience, having previously led Lisbon to numerous playoff trips and the county’s only state championship in 1995. He left as the winningest coach in Lisbon’s history with 143 wins. He also took over the Carrollton football program in 2019, posting a 2-8 record in year one, only to go on to win 7 or more games each season and 4 straight post-season runs. His leadership and commitment to developing players both on and off the field have earned him respect and admiration across the football community not only locally but also at the state level. This past June, Tsilimos was inducted into the Ohio Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame. With his strategic mindset and proven track record, Coach Tsilimos is poised to elevate Wellsville’s football program. “We are thrilled to welcome Coach Tsilimos to our family,” said Kyle Exline, athletic director. “His passion for the game, dedication to developing young athletes, and deep understanding of football make him the perfect fit for our program. We are confident that under his guidance, our team will improve. We are very fortunate to be in this situation this late in the posting of this position.”
