FAHS PITCHES GEM, CLIPPERS DENT TORONTO ARMOR

TORONTO, OH- Ryan Fahs (3-1) pitched a complete game gem to help the Columbiana Clippers (7-6, 5-2 EOAC) down the Toronto Red Knights 7-3 on Tuesday afternoon.  Fahs scattered 5 hits giving up 3 runs (2 earned) while striking out 2.

The Clippers struck first when Chase Franken would score on Fahs RBI single to give Columbiana the early 1-0 lead.  Franken had reached on an infield single and after stealing two bases would score on the Fahs hit.  Toronto struck back for two in the bottom of the frame but some solid defense helped keep the Red Knights from mounting a big inning and kept the score at 2-1.

In the third inning, Fahs would reach on an error and Brady Dixon singled.  After a perfectly executed sacrifice bunt by Evan Kenneally the Clippers had runners at 2nd and 3rd with one out.  A couple of wild pitches allowed both Fahs and Dixon to score giving the Clippers the lead for good.

Columbiana would tack on 1 more in the fourth, but the dagger came in the sixth inning.  With runners on first and second and the score 4-2, Dixon hit a 2 out ball off the fence in left center plating a pair of runs and extending the Clipper lead.  Kenneally would follow Dixon’s double with an RBI single and that is all Columbiana would need en route to victory.

On the day, Columbiana collected 7 hits including 2 by Franken and Dixon.

Columbiana will be back in action as the Red Knights will pay a visit to finish off the series.  First pitch at Legion Field is scheduled for 5:30 PM Wednesday.
