FALCONS GRAB VICTORY IN SLUGFEST WITH BENEDICTINE

Jefferson Area snatched the lead late in the game in a 20-12 victory over Benedictine on Monday. The game was tied at 12 with Jefferson Area batting in the top of the sixth when Marc Wood singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.

The Falcons was boosted by Wood who went 5-for-6 at the plate. Wood singled in the first, doubled in the third, doubled in the fifth, singled in the sixth, and homered in the seventh.

Jefferson Area got things started in the first inning when Braydon Throop grounded out, scoring one run.

The Falcon tallied eight runs in the fifth inning. Seve Cantini, Kirkland Lambert, Dylan Cotton, PJ Modzelewski, Wood, and Cantini all drove in runs in the frame.

Cantini led the Falcons to victory on the pitcher’s mound. The hurler lasted two and a third innings, allowing zero hits and zero runs while striking out five and walking zero. Lambert and Modzelewski entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Dawson Williams started the game for Benedictine. The bulldog allowed nine hits and eight runs over four innings, striking out four.

Throop started the game for Jefferson Area. The bulldog surrendered eight runs on six hits over one-third of an inning, walking one

The Falcons socked one home run on the day. Wood had a long ball in the seventh inning.

Jefferson Area saw the ball well today, racking up 18 hits in the game. Wood, Lambert, Cantini, Cotton, and Modzelewski all managed multiple hits. Wood went 5-for-6 at the plate to lead.
