FITCH FINDS AN EARLY GROOVE

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – The Austintown-Fitch Falcons softball team earned its second win of the season in dominant fashion, defeating the Mentor Cardinals 11-1 in five innings on Monday.
Fitch’s offense exploded for 13 hits, with Kaliana Ray leading the charge with two singles, two doubles, three RBIs, and four stolen bases. Alyssa Rodgers contributed four singles, two RBIs, and three stolen bases, while Morgan Roby added two singles and two RBIs. Abby Toth delivered a home run and a sacrifice fly, driving in three runs.
The Falcons put up two runs in the first inning before breaking the game open with a six-run second. They tacked on another run in the third and sealed the victory with two more in the fifth.
Freshman pitcher Tori Greathouse controlled the circle for Fitch, allowing just four hits and one run over five innings while striking out two. The Falcons’ defense remained solid, playing error-free behind her.
Now 2-0 on the season, Austintown-Fitch will return to action on Friday, March 28, when they host Uniontown Lake at 5 p.m.
