G-MEN COME OUT SWINGING

BURTON OH-  Garfield came out swinging and held off a late push from Berkshire to snag an 8-5 win on Friday.

The G-Men wasted no time getting on the board. Emily Knerem ripped a double down the line to bring in one, and Juliana Genovese followed with an RBI single in the first to set the tone. They added another in the third when Kolby Fresch shot a single to right to make it 3-0.

The fifth inning was where Garfield really broke things open. Fresch launched a two-run bomb to left, Genovese kept it rolling with another RBI knock, and Olivia Zicari joined the hit parade with a run-scoring single of her own. Five hits, four runs, and a little breathing room.

Berkshire made things interesting in the bottom half, plating five runs on three hits and a couple Garfield errors, but the G-Men defense locked in from there.

Annie Rado got the start and pushed through five innings, giving up six hits and five runs—but only one earned. Genovese came in and shut the door, tossing two scoreless innings with three strikeouts to finish it off.

Garfield racked up 10 hits on the day. Zicari, Fresch, Genovese, and Knerem all had two each. Fresch and Genovese drove in a pair apiece, while Brooke Hrabak added some chaos with two stolen bases. The defense turned a clean double play, too. Next up, Garfield gets right back to work with a matchup against Windham on Saturday.
