GAMBLE IS PERFECT ON THE BIG STAGE

COLUMBIANA OH- With a highly anticipated matchup between Columbiana and McDonald on tap on Saturday, it was going to come down to which lock down pitcher shined the brightest. Both teams brought fantastic arms to the party in the Clippers’ Mackenzi Gamble and McDonald’s Bella O’Brien.  It was Gamble thought that absolutely made her name known to the entire world with a perfect game.

Gamble’s perfection wasn’t the only thing Columbiana brought to the party.  Their offense was able to solve O’Brien who hadn’t given up an earned run to this point in the season. The Clippers were able to get to her with 8 runs on 6 hits.  Gamble swung in 4 RBI on a grand slam to go along with her dominance in the circle. Ava Davanza was the only Clipper with multiple hits finishing perfect at the plate with a 2-2 line with a run scored.  Maryn Hepler was 1-4 with a pair of RBI

Gamble’s final line in the circle was 7.0 IP 0 H 0 BB 15 K.  She only used 80 pitches to complete her perfect game. Out of those 80 pitches, 62 of them were strikes.

O’Brien struck out 6 in the circle and gave up 6 hits for McDonsld. 5 of the Clippers 8 runs were earned. Bri McCombs struck out 4 batters in 2 innings of relief.  She didn’t give up a hit in those innings.

Columbiana returns to EOAC play on Monday as they open up a series with Wellsville on the road at 5:00.  McDonald will also refocus on league play as they welcome Springfield into their place on Monday at 5:00.
