GARFIELD ABLE TO FEND OFF THE REBELS

GARRETTSVILLE OH-  Garfield held off a couple of Crestview rallies to lock down a 6-4 win Monday night. Crestview struck first, working a bases-loaded walk to grab a quick 1-0 lead in the first. But Garfield answered back right away. Charlee Hill knocked a single in the second that brought in two runs to flip the game in the G-Men’s favor.

Garfield kept the momentum going in the third with an RBI triple down the right field line and a clean RBI single to the left side to make it 4-1.

Crestview wasn’t done though. They tied it up at four in the fourth, thanks to a homer to center. But Garfield made sure the tie didn’t last long. A Crestview error and a tag-up run gave Garfield the lead right back in the bottom half, and they didn’t give it up again.

Juliana Genovese got the job done in the circle for the G-Men, going the distance while giving up just four hits and striking out six over seven innings. Chloe Stoops battled for Crestview but took the loss after allowing seven hits and six runs (five earned).

Hill led the Garfield offense with two RBIs, while Diamond Dyson stayed hot out of the seven-hole, going 2-for-2. The G-Men also ran wild on the bases, swiping four bags, with Kolby Fresch and Emily Knerem each grabbing two.

Crestview’s biggest swing came from the eight-spot, with a three-run homer helping to keep them close. They also got a few knocks scattered across the lineup and stayed aggressive on the bases, stealing a couple bags themselves. The two teams will run it back Tuesday, with Crestview looking for payback.
