GIRARD MAINTAINS GRIP OF FIRST PLACE

GIRARD OH- First place was on the line on Tuesday night in Girard as the Jefferson Falcons came in to town with a 5-1 league record. Girard came in undefeated and alone at the top of the NE8 standings. After Jefferson won the first set, Girard made the proper adjustments to take the match in four sets. (23-25 25-17 25-15 25-23)

Per usual Lauren Pallone, and Bree Latell were a dangerous tandem for Girard’s offense. Pallone finished with 22 kills, and Latell collected 18. Latell also had 16 digs to complete a double double. Pallone collected 8. Ali Durkin set the offense up well finishing with 24 assists. Bailey Walters added 10. Durkin, and Walters both finished with double doubles with their dig totals. Durkin collected 12 and Walters collected 10.

For Jefferson Jaxyn Simmen led the way in kills with 10. Helaina Edgar was setting up the hitters well finishing with 23 assists. Chloe O’Rourke led the defense with 22 digs. She also served up 4 aces. Taylor Skinner had 5 blocks.

Girard has one more test to their first place status. On Thursday they will travel to Lakeview, who currently only has 1 loss in the league. Jefferson will look to bounce back returning home to host Poland.
