GIRARD RALLIES TO STUN THE VIKINGS
GIRARD OH- Girard shook off a rough start and turned up the heat in the third to take down LaBrae 9-6 on Wednesday.
LaBrae came out swinging, grabbing a quick 2-0 lead in the first off a base hit and a defensive miscue. But Girard stayed cool and stormed back in the bottom of the third, unloading for five runs on four hits. The turning point? A full-count, two-run single that flipped the script and gave Girard the edge.
From there, the Indians never looked back.
Brooklyn Broll went the distance in the circle, grinding through seven innings while scattering nine hits and fanning four. She got plenty of help from her defense, including a clean double play that helped kill a LaBrae rally.
At the dish, Girard spread the love—six different players knocked in runs, and the team ran wild on the bases, swiping five bags. Quinn Wilster and Broll both notched two hits, and Wilster added a pair of steals to her stat line.
LaBrae kept things interesting late, getting three-hit nights from the top of the lineup and pushing across runs throughout the game, but the early damage from Girard was too much to overcome. Next up for the Indians: a road trip to Lakeview on Monday.
