GIRARD SCORES LATE TO WALK AWAY WITH WIN

COLUMBIANA OH- Crestview’s originally scheduled game against Mineral Ridge on Thursday had to be canceled due to the Rams needing to make up a league game. The Girard Indians were more than happy to come over to Crestview to replace Ridge. The Indians scored two runs in the top of the seventh to win a pitcher’s duel 4-2.

The Rebels got on the board first as Karsyn Moore hit a RBI double in the bottom of the 1st inning. Moore would  add on to the Rebel lead two innings later with a RBI single.

Down 2-0 it was the bottom half of Girard’s lineup that did the damage. Allison Durkin hit a sacrifice fly in the 4th inning to cut the Rebels lead down to 2-1. Kaedyn Sutton would wiggle out of the rest of the inning unscathed.

In the 6th inning, Girard loaded the bases with 1 out. Once again it was the bottom half of the order coming through as McKayla Durr hit a sacrifice fly to tie the game up at 2-2.

In the 7th after the first two hitters got out, Girard had back to back singles to put runners on the corners with two gone. With the Indians RBI leader Tori Owens layed down a bunt, and in a run down the runner scored from third. Girard would then draw back to back walks to force home their fourth run.

As the rain came down, Emily Rosace put the Rebels down 1-2-3 to seal the win.

Rosace’s final line was 7.0 IP 3 H 2 R 7 K 3 BB.

Sutton took the loss in the circle, her final line was 7.0 IP 9 H 3 ER 11 K 4 BB.
Girard will make a trip to Poland on Saturday to play Poland and Boardman. Crestview will return to action Friday night traveling to Liberty.
