Girard knocked in eight runs in the third on its way to a 10-4 victory over Columbiana on Friday. Sophie Griffith, Kaitlyn Culver, Emily Rosace, McKayla Durr, Allison Durkin, and Malina Serrano all drove in runs in the frame.

Columbiana got things started in the second inning. Madeline Hitchcock singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

After Columbiana scored one run in the top of the fifth, Girard answered with one of their own. Columbiana scored when an error scored one run. The Indians answered when Seyhan Dede laid down a sacrifice bunt, scoring one run.

Girard away for good with eight runs in the third inning. In the third Griffith grounded out, scoring one run, Culver singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, Rosace singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run, Durr singled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs, Durkin singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run, and Serrano singled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs.

Rosace was the winning pitcher for the Indians. Rosace lasted seven innings, allowing five hits and four runs while striking out four.

Tori Long took the loss for Columbiana. The pitcher allowed nine hits and eight runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking one.

Girard saw the ball well today, racking up 15 hits in the game. Serrano, Rosace, Durr, Dede, and Culver all managed multiple hits. Rosace and Serrano all had three hits to lead.

Long went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Columbiana in hits.
