GRAND VALLEY BATS ON FIRE

BRISTOL OH-  Grand Valley came out swinging and never looked back, blasting Bristol 22-10 in a high-scoring slugfest Friday night.

The Mustangs racked up 19 hits and eight walks, running wild on the basepaths with eight stolen bags. It was chaos from the jump, with Grand Valley jumping ahead early thanks to a pair of doubles in the first. But Bristol punched right back, dropping five runs in their half of the inning to take a quick 5-4 lead.

That didn’t last long. Grand Valley flipped the game right back in the second. A couple clutch singles and a liner that brought in a run put the Mustangs back on top, and from there, they just kept piling it on. A few errors in the field and some patient at-bats helped stretch the lead even further by the third.

Ady Kovacic handled business in the circle after taking over in the second. She went six innings, gave up just four earned, and fanned seven to lock things down. The bats gave her plenty of breathing room.

Jenna Poyer led the hit parade with four knocks out of the seven hole, proving Grand Valley’s lineup is dangerous top to bottom. Kovacic helped her own cause with four RBIs. Breanna Rowland, Natilly Hostetler, Kaitlyn Baumann, and Tori Dryer all had multi-hit games as well.

On the other side, Bristol swung it well too—picking up nine hits, including three from one bat and four RBIs from their cleanup spot. They turned a double play defensively but couldn’t keep pace once Grand Valley’s offense got rolling.

The Mustangs will be back in action Saturday on their home turf, taking on Chalker. If they swing it like this again, look out.
