GREAT PITCHING AND EARLY RAIDER RUNS HOLD UP, GIRARD BOWS OUT

CANFIELD, OH- The Lady Raiders can exhale.  Girard was a team that was definitely a sleeper in the OHSAA Tournament this year- one that no team really wanted to face.  However, Girard watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 5-0 loss to South Range on Wednesday. South Range scored on a single by Drew Feren in the first inning, an error in the second inning, and a single by Bree Kohler in the second inning.

The Lady Indians lost despite out-hitting South Range five to four.  One bright spot for Girard was a single by Sahan Dede in the first inning.

Kohler was in the pitcher’s circle for South Range. She surrendered zero runs on five hits over seven innings, striking out 16 and walking one.

Samantha Dohy was on the rubber for Girard. She surrendered five runs on four hits over six innings, striking out one and walking one.

Sophie GriffithDedeDohyMackayla Durr, and Sidney Durkin each collected one hit to lead Girard.

South Range racked up four hits. Feren and Kohler had all four hits for South Range.
